After 35 years in practice and 28 years at Clarkson Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Jess Buttery has retired. We want to thank him for his dedication to our clients and patients over the past three decades. Read his farewell letter here.
Dr. Buttery received a Master's degree in Veterinary Microbiology from North Carolina State University. He then went on to earn a DVM degree from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. After veterinary school, he worked at Marineland of Florida, one of Florida's first marine mammal parks; Ringling Brothers Circus; and both large and small animal practices. Prior to Clarkson Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Buttery owned and practiced at East Avenue Animal Hospital in Brockport. He has a special interest in surgery, endoscopy, radiology, and microbiology.
At home, Dr. Buttery has two cats — a Ragdoll named Sparticus and a Russian Blue named G-man. He enjoys woodworking, canoeing, camping, music, photography, and hiking, and collecting antique woodworking tools. He also collects and uses antique woodworking tools to make Adirondack pack baskets and snowshoes.
